How Stopful works
Stopful is a free, map-first road-trip planner. Drop stops on a map, see drive times and transport options, find places to stay and charge, keep your bookings and budget in one place, and share the trip with whoever's coming along. Here's everything it can do.
Build your route
- Add a stop — search a place in the search box, or press and hold anywhere on the map.
- Move a stop — drag its pin to a new spot.
- Set how long you stay — tap a pin and set the number of nights (0 = just passing through).
- Stopful draws the driving route between your stops and adds up the distance and time as you go.
Stops & legs
- Tap a pin for a stop's details — set nights, check the weather, browse things to do, and find a place to stay.
- Tap the route line between two stops to see that leg's drive time and distance, switch how you travel it (drive, flight, train, or bus), find EV chargers along the way, and open turn-by-turn directions.
Add bookings by email
Already booked a hotel, flight, or car? Forward the confirmation email to your trip's own address and Stopful reads it and adds it for you — the reservation shows up on the right stop, the cost is logged to your budget, and hotels get a Navigate button.
Each trip has its own address that looks like trip-abc123@in.stopful.com. Open any stop's Bookings section — or the Bookings tab — to copy your trip's exact address.
Track your budget
The Budget tab keeps the money side in one place: set a spending target, add expenses by hand (or let forwarded bookings fill them in automatically), see a breakdown by category, and get an estimated fuel or EV-charging cost based on your drive legs.
Where to stay
For every overnight stop you can search places to stay right from the pin. Stopful also flags any overnight stop with no hotel booked yet, so a night doesn't slip through unplanned.
Plan with AI
Sign in and describe a trip in plain words — "a week around the Dolomites in September, no more than 300 km a day" — and the AI travel agent maps out a full route with stops and nights. Keep chatting to refine it: add stops, reorder them, or change how long you stay. It can also answer questions about your trip and about how to use Stopful.
Share & plan together
- Share copies a link anyone can open to view your trip.
- Share for editing (in the More menu) creates an edit link so friends or family can plan the trip alongside you.
- Version history (More menu) lets you look back and restore an earlier version.
Save, sync & export
- Sign in with Google to sync your trips across your devices.
- Print / Save as PDF from the More menu for a clean, day-by-day itinerary to take with you.
- Export and Import a trip as a file to keep your own backup.
Common questions
Is Stopful free?
Yes. Planning is free. Some booking links are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — see our Privacy Policy.
Do I need an account?
No — you can plan straight away. Signing in with Google is optional and just syncs your trips across devices and unlocks the AI travel agent.
How accurate are the drive times and prices?
They're estimates for planning and can be out of date. Always confirm the details that matter — prices, opening hours, road and border conditions, and any booking — with the official source. See our Terms.
Can I plan a trip that isn't just driving?
Yes. Set any leg to a flight, train, or bus when you tap the route between two stops, so mixed road-and-rail (or fly-in) trips map correctly.
How do I get my bookings into the trip?
Forward the confirmation email to your trip's own trip-…@in.stopful.com address (copy it from a stop's Bookings section). Stopful adds the reservation and logs the cost automatically.
